Our Achievements

Movement Medicine boasts a number of achievements;

2009
Movement Medicine in partnership with the Illawarra Division of General Practice was successful in winning a $2.5 Million Federal Government Grant to build the Shellharbour Superclinic.

2008
  • Daryl Sadgrove was awarded the prestigious 'Presidents Award' from the President of the Australian Association for Exercise and Sport Science in acknowledgement of his significant contribution to the industry.

2007

  • In partnership with Wollongong Uni and the Illawarra Division of General Practice, Daryl and colleagues were awarded almost $500,000 towards a research project to improve preventative health services for over 65's in the Illawarra region.
  • Tessa Piper was awarded a research scholarship for developing lifestyle programs for adults with mild intellectual disabilities. The project was later funded over $200,000 from the federal government to continue the project on a larger scale.
  • Movement Medicine continued its recognition as a training facility providing supervision and mentoring for 10 Exercise Physiology and Dietetics students in 2007.

2006

  • Nominated for the ‘Best New Illawarra Business’, ‘Best Small Business’ and ‘Best Health and Community Service’ in the Illawarra Business Awards.
  • Daryl Sadgrove was recognised as a Fellow of the Australian Association for Exercise and Sport Science (AAESS), for outstanding contribution to the industry.
  • Daryl Sadgrove was awarded the Professional Practice Award for the best research presented in the professional practice category at the National AAESS conference 2006. The award was for research he completed in Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes.

2005

  • Nominated for the 'Best New Illawarra Business' in the Illawarra Business Awards.
